Annual Fee
Dear Thorbeckes Members,
As we close in on the end of 2021, I want to thank you for your continued support of Thorbeckes Wellness Center, especially during the past two years where we have worked through several shutdowns and COVID-19 mandates. We are extremely thankful that we were able to reopen our gyms, as we have seen numerous around the country be forced to close permanently.
We hope you enjoy all the improvements made throughout the facilities this past year such as several upgrades at the pool, the new boxing studio in Centralia, and a new group fitness room in South Bend. Additionally, we have some exciting new additions to all three locations that you will see show up over the next couple of months.
As you are probably aware, the approval of Proposition 1433 in 2017 called for minimum wage to increase from $9.47 to $13.50 per hour by 2020. The increase in 2019 to 2021 was the largest in history, as it is jumped from $12 to $13.69. This raise was also in addition to mandatory paid sick leave, health insurance and paid FMLA that have been instituted over the past three years. This year that minimum wage will again be raised to $14.49, as well as raising the minimum limits on salaried employees. Additionally, we have hired a substantial amount of extra staff whose sole job is cleaning during this COVID pandemic.
In order to continue to improve our clubs for our members, effective January 1st, 2022 the annual equipment and maintenance fee for each member will be increased to $30 plus tax per member. We chose this route in lieu of raising our membership prices. Your annual fee processing date will remain the same that it always has been. We believe that this low annual fee, which are assessed at most clubs throughout the country, will allow us to continue to grow in our communities for years to come.
We greatly appreciate your understanding and look forward to a very successful and enjoyable 2022.
Thank you,
Thorbeckes Management
